What Is Open Aid Alliance?
Open Aid Alliance is a student-led disaster relief navigation organization that helps survivors find, understand, and access available assistance. After a disaster, support may be available through government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and volunteer groups. However, that information is often scattered across many different websites and explained in complicated language. For people already dealing with damaged homes or other urgent problems, figuring out where to begin can feel overwhelming. Open Aid Alliance brings reliable disaster relief resources together in one place and explains them in clear, straightforward language. We also offer free guidance to people who are unsure which resources may apply to them or what steps they should take next. Our goal is simple: to make disaster relief easier to find, easier to understand, and easier to access.
Our Mission & Values
Our Story
Open Aid Alliance was founded by siblings Simcha and Nessya Rosenberg. Simcha’s experience volunteering in disaster-affected communities showed him how difficult it can be for survivors to find and access the help available to them. Nessya brought experience running a nonprofit focused on providing basic necessities to those in need. Together, they created Open Aid Alliance to make disaster aid easier to find and navigate. Our mission is to help disaster survivors move from confusion to action by making relief resources clearer and more accessible. We pursue that mission through five core values that guide how we research information, communicate with survivors, and provide support.
Clarity: Disaster assistance can be difficult to understand. We translate complicated requirements and application procedures into clear, straightforward language.
Access: Aid can only help people if they know it exists and understand how to pursue it. We help survivors identify programs, services, and organizations that may fit their needs.
Compassion: Recovering from a disaster is stressful and deeply personal. We aim to treat every person with patience, empathy, and respect.
Trust: We rely on official and credible sources, regularly review the information we publish, and clearly explain the limits of our guidance. We do not guarantee eligibility or funding, and we encourage visitors to confirm current requirements with each program directly.
Service: Open Aid Alliance is built around the idea that practical guidance can make a real difference. Even when we cannot solve every problem ourselves, we can help people find the right next step.
